Michele is associate professor of the Information Processing Systems (ING/INF 05) disciplinary group since 01/10/2001 and has obtained the national scientific qualification for the functions of full professor. He was President of the Computer Engineering (L8) Study Course from 1 December 2012 to November 2020. He has participated in several projects of national importance in some of which he was coordinator and/or scientific director. He is, and has been, a member of the editorial boards of both International Conferences and Journals. His research group is a leader in the study of reliability (trust) in social networks and in the application of “network and data science” both to theoretical problems and to specific application cases, addressing the complexity of modern systems from different points of view. Among his main interests are “CyberSecurity” and network systems that he teaches in the Computer Engineering study courses at the University of Catania. He is and has been co-editor of several volumes published by Springer.
